Initially the Metropolitan Fire Service turned out 1 appliance (O'halloran Hill 421) to a report of a grass fire on Grant road at Reynella, upon arrival they requested extra assistance from the CFS and Happy Valley, Morphett Vale and Pt Noarlunga CFS were responded.

As the incident escalated more CFS resources were requested and appliances from Clarendon, Eden Hills, Cherry Gardens,Corromandel Valley, Belair, Burnside, Bradbury, Mylor, and 2 water bombing aircraft were called in. A number of appliances were also required for Change of Quarters to cover areas where appliances had been taken from.

Although the fire burnt through grassland quickly, it was contained by crews to an area of about 20 Hectares.
